Continuing on the imageries of the Holy Spirit
Imegery: Wind
Characteristics of a wind
- Wind is invisible and unpredictable, but one can experience a wind.
- Similarly, we can see that the Holy Spirit too moves in a sudden manner as seen in Acts 2
●Exodus 14
Here we see that as the people of Israel came near the red sea and found that the Pharoah’s had pursued them and had reached near them , they started to speak negatively
●In Exodus 14:11,12
●The Israielites started to accuse Moses and started to speak death and defeat.
●You need to be very careful about what you speak .
●This is because the words you speak carry power
●Proverbs 18:21 states that life and death are in the power of the tongue,
●You need to be very careful about what you speak .
●Moses was leading about 2 million Israelites
•We notice that Moses was in no way agitated and responded to those accusations with great peace of mind
●All Moses’s statements were statements of faith.
●● in Exodus 14 :13
And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today.
●We see that :
●Moses does not join with them by speaking words of unbelief
●He speaks the words of the Holy Spirit.
●Understand that you don’t have to fight for yourself.
●The Lord will fight for you – don’t fight back by yourself.
●In Verse 15 in his private conversation, Moses breaks down, cries and asks God what he should do.
●To his questions, God replies :
Tell the children of Israel to go forward. 16 But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it.
●Here, God tells Moses not to wait, doing nothing in dismay, but asks him to take action.
●God reminds him that this was not the time to think, but to take action
●When tough times come, do not withdraw from your responsibilities.
●Most people are not ready to take action in the face of problems.
●In Verse 21, we see that the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind.
●One of the greatest miracles in the Bible is God parting the Red Sea 🌊
●
●Here, we see God asks Moses to stretch out his rod towards the sea .
●This means our act of faith is very important .
●If you have a promise, God wants to see a corresponding action from your side.
●One misconception we have is that when we have a promise, we need to do nothing and just wait on God ,which is infact not true.
●Here, we see that one man was ready to act according to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
■2 Kings Chapter 2:11
Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven
●Here we see another wind mentioned as a ” whirlwind “
●Notice that the Word disciple comes from the word discipline
●Those who have a disciplined life are the ones who are truly called to become disciples .
●Discipline and obedience will help you progress in your ministry.
● “Gilgal’ means surrender and live by faith .
●Discipline and obedience are very important in spiritual growth
●We see that Elijah and Elisha traveled from Gilgal to
Bethel from Bethel to Jericho and then from Jericho to Jordan ,and when they reached Jordan, Elijah parted Jordan with his mantle.
Then, later, Elijah is taken up in a whirlwind.
●Here, we see Elijah being elevated from the natural to the supernatural by the wind.
●Being taken up by the wind implies that the Holy Spirit will elevate you from the natural to the supernatural .
●So, in fact, God desires that all those who are engaged in ministry to live in the supernatural.
■Again in Ezekiel 37 we see God asking the prophet Ezikiel if the dry bones will live ?
●Here we see that God gives Ezekiel an assignment.
●We see that God always needs a man to do His works on earth.
●If God is to work on this earth he needs a person
●God here asks Ezekiel to prophesy to these bones .
●Ezekiel needs to speak.
■In Genisis we see that in the beginning God gives the command “let there be light “
●We see that when the Lord spoke the Holy Spirit started moving.
●Similarly when you start speaking, the Holy Spirit will start to work
●In Ezekiel 37 see that when Ezikiel started to prophesy, the Holy Spirit started moving.
●Then in Verse 9 we see that he started to prophesy to the wind
“Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.” ’
●The result of the prophesy was that breath came into them and the dry bones became an exceedingly great army.
●It’s your responsibility to speak the Word of God
●You need to prophesy
●If God has given you an assignment, you must do your part
●and you will see an army arising from the dry bones .
●You will see valleys of dry bones turn into armies!
● This can all be done only by the wind of the Holy Spirit:
He alone can wake us from our spiritual lethargy, He alone can dispel the toxic fumes of unbelief and carnality, He alone can bring the sweet aroma of heaven back into our lives.
●What you need for this is Ruah or the wind of the Holy Spirit
You are going to climb to a supernatural level.
●You are going to raise an army from the valley of dry bones.
God bless
